 Jane K. Barnhart 77, of Bedford, died Friday, April 7, 2017 at her residence.  She was born on September 16, 1939 in Crafton, a daughter of the late Alvin S. and H. Elisabeth (Trimble) Koozer.  On February 13, 1960 in Englewood, OH, she married the love of her life Robert A. Barnhart who preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.  She is survived by two daughters: Linda Frazier, of Bedford, and Diana Barnhart-Holler and husband Jeff, of Manns Choice; two grandchildren: Joshua Frazier, and Jennifer Diehl and husband Kevin: a step-grandson, Michael Holler; a great-grandson, Braden Diehl; two brothers-in-law: H. Eugene Koontz and Dr. Ronald Markwood; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Barnhart; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son Brian Barnhart, a sister, Rosemary (Koozer) Koontz, and a sister-in-law, Betty (Barnhart) Markwood, and a niece Karen Koontz Stoeri.

Mrs. Barnhart was a 1957 graduate of Bedford High School and attended IUP and Penn State.  She was a member and former Deacon of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, a former Cub Scout Leader, member and past president of the former 20th Century Club, member and past president of the Bedford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and former co-chairperson of the hospital snack bar.  She was chairperson and co-chairperson of Bedford’s Fall Foliage Festival for 18 years, served on the committee to restore the Memorial Park Cemetery, and was a member of the Bedford County Heritage Commission and Bedford Springs Music Festival Committee.  She was given the third Ethena Award in Bedford County in 1992.  She and her husband operated The Coach Room Restaurant in Bedford for 28 years.  She taught school in the Bedford school system from 1964-1968.  She and her husband owned and operated a wood crafting business, Barney’s Woodworks, for over 10 years.  Both she and her husband were avid Penn State, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Bedford High School fans.  She enjoyed reading, history, especially Abraham Lincoln, music, cooking, entertaining, and knitting.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Earl Stewart officiating.  Internment for Jane, Robert, and Brian, will be held at the Bedford Cemetery following the memorial service.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service, at the church.
