Helen M. Oster, 94, of Cumberland Valley, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. She was born on November 4, 1921, in Cumberland Valley, a daughter of the late John R. and Delphia (Alt) Cussins. On May 20, 1939, in Cumberland, MD, she married Nuner C. "Johnny" Oster who preceded her in death on March 1, 2009. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Bussard and husband Jack, of Chambersburg, a daughter, Kathy Beers and husband Brian, of Dillsburg; a son, Thomas Oster married to the former Vicki Young, of Bedford, seven grandchildren:  Doug and Trevis Bussard, Michael Maffucci, Carey Hill, Eric Oster, Jamie and Matthew McCord; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Maffucci; three brothers:  Lester, Paul, and Glen Cussins; and one sister Audra Wertz.

Helen was a lifelong member of Providence Lutheran Church formerly known as Bortz Lutheran Church.  She was very active with the church and the ladies auxiliary.  She volunteered her time at the Bedford Hospital snack bar. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting dinners.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor David Wright officiating.  Burial will be private.
