Verna L. Seifert, 87, of Bedford, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on September 14, 1929, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Henry W. and Alice (Smith) Mock. On April 19, 1947, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, she married Joseph M. Seifert and her death ended a marriage of 69 years. She is survived by a daughter: Charlotte L. Seifert, of Saint Thomas; a brother, Clarence Mock and wife Connie, of Johnstown, a sister, Anna Mae Allen wife of the late Joseph Allen, formerly of Bedford; a step-brother Ronald Mock and wife Dianna, of Johnstown; and a step-sister: Sandra (Kring) Berkebile and husband Denver, of Windber. She was preceded in death by two step-sisters: Lydia Smith and Nora Mock and two nieces and a nephew.
Verna was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford. She worked for the G.C. Murphy Co. for 24 years and retired when they closed the store in Bedford. She enjoyed crocheting, genealogy and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and a loving wife and mother.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
