Wayne Allison 93, of Alum Bank, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 27, 2024. He was born April 19, 1930 in Lovely, a son of the late Ralph and Eva (Harbaugh) Allison. On June 2, 1951 in Winchester, VA, Wayne married Josephine (Weyant) Allison. They were married for 73 years. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, children: Diane Yarnell, Deborah (Timothy Young), Darryl (Amy Collier) and Dallas (Kathy Brown), and daughter-in-law Barbara (Harr) Allison all of Alum Bank, a sister Lela (Leroy Ickes) of Bedford, sisters-in-law Joann Weyant of New Paris, and Lois (Martin) Allison, of Alum Bank; a niece Shirley Cathers, 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Dean Allison, a son-in-law Larry Yarnell, one granddaughter, one great-grandson; six brothers: Earl, Ernest, Clark, Landis, Jay and an infant brother, and three sisters: Mildred, Mae, Margaret.
Wayne worked on the family farm, the coal mines in Windber, and as a truck mechanic for McQuaide, Continental, Interstate, and retired from Osterburg Diesel.
Wayne has given a legacy to his family of many fun times together. Memories of hunting deer, mushrooms, ginseng, finding 4-leaf clovers, and playing games. His love of bluegrass and gospel music encouraged him to buy musical instruments for his children, helping them to create the 4-in-1 gospel group. Even in his last months, he was a strong and patient man and was always caring about others. Wayne was affiliated with Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, with Rev. Dan Oldham officiating. Burial at Mt. Union Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements by Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
