Walter Bohn (Doc) Obituary

Walter L. Bohn (Doc), 94, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord and join his lovely wife, Patty, on Easter Sunday, at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. He was born on November 7, 1925, in Bedford, a son of the late Harvey and Mary (Hurley) Bohn. On October 27, 1958, he married his better half, Elizabeth C. (Wareham) Bohn in Winchester, VA, who preceded him in death on September 18, 2015.  He is survived by the following family: a son Eric Bohn & wife Terri of Irwin; a son Michael D. Bohn & wife Kelly of Browns Mills, NJ; and a daughter Susan K. Roadman & husband Todd of Bedford; six grandchildren Ryan & Tyler Bohn, Michelle & Angie Bohn, Mallory Pachtman & husband Brian, and Nate Roadman. He was preceded in death by all three of his brothers: Harold Bohn widow Marion of Buffalo Mills, Lloyd Bohn, and Chester Bohn widow Ruby of New Enterprise.

Walter graduated from Schellsburg/Napier High School. He worked as a self-employed car salesman and for various other car dealerships in the area.  Known lovingly as “Doc,” by all his family and friends (although not quite a doctor), he was a unique & caring individual who touched the lives of many.  He always lent a helping hand, and never said no to a good road trip.  His unconventional and quirky sense of humor was always the blessing and the curse among his family, as he had a knack for telling it like it is (or like he saw it).  He was a permanent fixture at the local McDonalds with all his “cronies”… a connoisseur of coffee, used cars, cheap beer, and Good Will thrifting.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in Doc’s name to the Milligans Cove Christian Church, 131 Ross Drive Apt. #6, Bedford, PA 15522.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
