Virginia Springer Way Obituary

Virginia B. “Gin” (Vaneiken) Springer Way, 80 of Fishertown, died May 21, 2020 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home.  She was born on June 20, 1939 in Windber, a daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Naugle) Vaneiken Sr.  On December 14, 1957 she married Ronald W. Springer who preceded her in death on December 31, 1971.  On April 26, 1980 in Bedford, she married Roy T. “Pappy” Way, who preceded her in death on September 10, 2016.  She is survived by a son, Ron Springer and Wife Nancy (Holler) of Bedford; a grandson Rusty Springer and wife Christina, of Houston; three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Emma, and Noah Springer; three step-children: Vickie (Way) Sellers, widow of Joe, of Bedford, Kitty (Way) Ellis and husband Will, of Hollidaysburg, and Thomas Way and wife Hilda (Koontz) of Bedford; and their children and grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Fetzer, widow of Lanny, of Johnstown, a brother Howard Vaneiken, and wife Shirley (Lovlie) of Delaware, a sister Barbara Bohorik and husband John, of Nanty Glo, a sister Beverly Voytko and husband Thomas, of Windber; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a two brothers: Albert Vaneiken Jr., and Calvin and wife Bessie (Segar).

Gin was a member of the Bedford Church of the Brethren, Bedford American Legion Post #113 Ladies Auxiliary, and Schellsburg American Legion Post #4440 Ladies Auxiliary.  Gin and Pappy enjoyed traveling visiting all the states except two, and enjoyed tending her flower garden.  A special thanks to her neighbor Barbara Berkey, Hospice, and Pennknoll Village for keeping her as comfortable as possible during her battle with cancer over the past two years.

Funeral services will be private.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
