Verna W. (Wertz) Wolfe

Verna W. Wolfe 95, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard.  She was born on January 16, 1924 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Walter W. and Effie (Oster) Wertz and is the last surviving member of her immediate family.  On October 18, 1947 she married Warren E. Wolfe who preceded her in death on February 1, 1963. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and by special friends in Virginia from the time she lived and worked there.  She was preceded in death by brothers: Homer, Raymond, John, William, and Ward; and by sisters Faye and Mildred.

Verna was a graduate of Bedford High School, class of 1940.  After graduation she was employed in Bedford by the Hartley National Bank, and later in Virginia by Ralston Purina Company, and Verizon Corporation.  In 1984 she retired from Verizon Corporation and returned to Bedford to be with her sister.  Verna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. David Weinhold officiating.  Burial at Fishertown Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 W.
