Terry K. Harclerode

Terrance K. “Terry” Harclerode 84, of New Paris died Sunday, January 5, 2020, at his residence.  He was born on April 21, 1935, in Everett, a son of the late Brady R. and Velma (Foor) Harclerode.  On December 20, 1959, in Bedford he married his wife of 60 years, Prudence (Deibert) Harclerode, who survives along with the following family: a daughter Sonja H. Cline and husband Warren, of Frederick, MD, and Jerome R. Harclerode and wife Jennifer, of New Paris; two brothers: Robert Harclerode and wife Carol, and Michael Harclerode and wife Marjorie; three sisters: Shirley O’Neal, Linda Ciavarella, and Judy Sheeder and husband John.  He was preceded in death by two brothers: Brady R. “Chip” Harclerode Jr., and Gerard Harclerode; and a sister Patsy Wolfe.

Terry graduated from Everett High School in 1953, and served in the Army from January 1953 to May 1954.  He then attended Barber School using his G.I. Bill and barbered with his brother in Everett until he enrolled in Millersville State Teachers College, graduating in 1963, and then again in 1965 with a Master’s Degree.  Terry taught industrial arts in Prince George’s County, MD and at the Penn Manor School District in Lancaster.  He then owned and operated a farm equipment and lawn mowing and landscaping business in New Paris for many years before his retirement.  Terry was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #114, and the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Beverly Swindell officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in Terry’s name to: Family Hospice of Bedford County, 227 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA 15537.  The online guestbook is available at www.berekbilefuneralhome.com.
