Ronald Lambert Obituary

On Saturday, January 20, 2024 Ronald W. Lambert of Candy Lane, Bedford departed Pennknoll Village to go home to be with the Lord Jesus whom he loved and served for most of his life.  He was born in Johnstown, on December 11, 1935 a son of the late Hite and Augusta (Raab) Lambert.  Ron is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Sandra (Eckardt) of Bedford whom he married on June 5, 1954.  He is also survived by his four sons: Stephen T. Lambert and wife Donna of Hershey; Phillip D. Lambert and wife Theresa of Dacula, GA; David Lambert of Bedford;  and Mark Lambert of Everett; four grandchildren: Stephen, Gregory, Andrew, and Hannah; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Diane Lamb of Elizabethtown and Elaine Gelnett and husband Donald of Grantville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron graduated from Glen-Nor High School in Glenolden in 1953.  He worked for Blackburn-Russell Co. for nearly forty years.  He loved hunting and golfing, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, doing Sudoku Puzzles, woodworking, assembling model airplanes, gardening and just staying busy.  He attended Bedford Bible Church.  Ron loved being active in the community.  He served as a PIAA softball official, as an assistant coach for Bedford High School girls softball team, and Foundations Christian Academy boys basketball team for several seasons. Ron participated in the Young at Heart Games for many years both as an avid competitor and as a solicitor for contributions and prizes used for the games.  He sang with the RSVP singers and drove school bus for a number of years.  But more than anything he loved serving the Lord. He served as the director of Youth for Christ in Bedford County in the 1960’s and 70’s.  He was active in the church as a Sunday School teacher, elder, and deacon.  He was a member of the Gideons for nearly twenty years and represented them in distributing God’s word to colleges, universities, and hotels as well as presenting the Gideons ministry in many of the churches in the area.  Every year he represented the Gideons by distributing Bibles to the young people at Camp Cadet.  He loved preaching God’s word in many local churches.  But as much as anything else, he loved driving his 1968 Pontiac Firebird to all the local car shows and cruise ins while passing out tracts and sharing his faith with other antique and classic car enthusiasts.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends, especially by his four-legged friend, Punky.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gary Greenawalt for assisting Ron when he fell.  His act of kindness is deeply appreciated by the entire family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bedford Bible Church, 15 Meadow Lane, Bedford, with Pastor Martin Wickens officiating.  Burial at Fishertown Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the Bedford Bible Church.
