Roger B. Markle 78, of Bedford, died on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on June 4, 1944 in Breezewood, a son of the late Charles E. and Minnie (Mellott) Markle. On September 28, 1987 in Berkley Springs, WV he married Juda (Smith) Markle who survives along with two sons: Gerald Markle and wife Lisa, of Martinsburg, and Danny Markle and wife Kimberly of Saxton; one grandson Jared; one step-son Glen William Smith and wife Janet, of Bedford; and three siblings: John Markle, of Breezewood, Lloyd Markle, of Bedford, and Barbara Tannhill, of Fairhope; and one sister-in-law Sharon Smith of Bedford. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Markle Jr., and two sisters: Dolores and Evelyn Bussard.
Roger was a graduate of Everett Area High School, and owned Markle’s Auto Sales for over 45 years in Bedford. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing at Bedford Speedway for over 60 years, following his favorite driver #92 Jeff Rine. He was affiliated with the Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Bedford Lions Club. Roger enjoyed the holiday season, especially Christmas, and loved his dogs Zoey and Baby.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. David Weinhold officiating. Burial at Messiah Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
