Robert Zimmers Obituary

Robert L. Zimmers 69, of Bedford, died Monday, April 5, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 16, 1951 in Bedford, a son of the late Joe and Madeline (Mortimore) Zimmers. On June 5, 1981 in Winchester, VA he married Barbara L. (Shaffer) Zimmers who preceded him in death on February 14, 2013. He is survived by three children: a daughter Amy Mallioux and husband Thomas, of San Antonio, TX, a son Daniel Zimmers and wife Dorothy, of Gettysburg, and a daughter Jessica Hamilton and husband Andrew, of Bedford; six grandchildren: Shawnelle, Armand, Evan, Michael, Caleb, and Matthew; five great-grandchildren: and a sister Cathy Fetter and husband Randy, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by a infant son, Jeb Robert Zimmers.

Robert graduated from Bedford High School, and served in the Army during Vietnam. He retired as a meter reader from Penelec. Robert was a member of Wolfsburg United Methodist Church, and attended Bedford United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors working on his farm in Dutch Corner.
