Richard "Dick" Henderson

Richard "Dick" Henderson, 70, of Bedford, walked into glory on Thursday, April 27, 2023 while hiking the Appalachian Trail. He was born on April 24, 1953 in Bedford, a son of the late Ethel (Calhoun) Johnson. On April 24, 1975 he married Debra (Reese) Henderson who survives along with a son, Beau Henderson and wife Melissa of Louisville, KY; a daughter, Lacey (Henderson) Stiffler and husband Shawn of Bedford; four grandchildren:  Riley “Ri Ri”, Elleona “Bucky”, Kaitlynn “Sugar Lips” and Race “The Big Man”; two brothers, Dan Henderson and significant other Sara of Bedford; David Henderson and wife Deborah of Osterburg; a sister, Dr. Bobbi Cecil and husband Morris of Louisville, KY; a sister-in-law, Tricia (Reese) Gates of Maryland; a mother-in-law, Kay Reese of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. He considered his Uncle Skyles Calhoun and Aunt Carol as parents, and Jeff Calhoun, Rick Calhoun and Wendy Logue grew up like brothers and a sister to him.

Dick owned the Bedford Radiator shop in town until his early retirement. He was a board member and was very active serving at Real Life Church in Bedford. He loved being with his family, walking, hiking, pushing buttons, helping others, (did we say ‘pushing buttons’?), spending time with his grandkids, and enjoying his hosta garden.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at  Real Life Church in Bedford with Beau Henderson and Pastor Brian Swain officiating.  Friends will be received on Friday beginning at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by Timothy A.
