Priscilla Mackall Obituary

Priscilla M. Mackall 96, of Bedford, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born in Vandergrift, PA, a daughter of the late William L. and Frances Mae (Smith) Defibaugh. She was married to her husband Irving Igdaloff who preceded her in death on January 18, 1999. On April 26, 2006, she married Charles M. Mackall Jr. who also preceded her in death on January 24, 2010. She is survived by a niece, who she raised as her daughter Katie Rooney and husband Timothy, of New Albany, OH and her children: Mimi, Hope, and Rand; and a brother William L. Defibaugh Jr. and wife Ruth, of Martinsburg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Delta Defibaugh Jones.

Priscilla was a force of nature, blazing a trail for women in business. She loved her careers working as a dietician and running restaurants for corporations around the world and working as a buyer for the H.S. Pogue Department Store in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived life to its fullest and loved to travel. While working in England, Priscilla visited numerous European and African countries. She loved to learn about different cultures and customs and was particularly touched by her time spent in Kenya. Priscilla and Irv loved to cruise in the Caribbean and took special pride and delight in their dancing prowess bringing smiles to their fellow passengers.

Following the loss of her sister, Priscilla became guardian to Katie. She loved to say becoming a mother to a 14-year-old made for a painful delivery! She took to motherhood easily and relished her days supporting her new “daughter” at soccer, field hockey and softballs games, driving girls about town, having girl talk and just enjoying life as a family of three. When Katie went to college, she drove behind her for 17 hours to make sure she got to school unharmed and drove back to Cincinnati, crying the whole way. She loved seeing life unfold for Katie and enjoyed giving Katie away at her wedding to Timothy in 2004 and becoming “Grand Mommy”.

Priscilla moved to Bedford in 1999 following the death of her husband. She expected to retire to a quiet life in the company of her beloved baby brother and his family but instead she found her days filled with lots to do and many people to love and dote on, which was her most favorite pastime. She took great joy in transitioning from Aunt P to faithful friend to her brother’s children, Barbara, Bill, Nancy, & Becky and watched her great nieces and nephews grow up and have families of their own. Her brother Bill introduced her to his friend Charlie and the rest is history. She and Charlie had so much fun redecorating, everything! A barn, a house, buildings, anything they could find and fix up they loved. Charlie introduced her to summers in New York where she enjoyed getting to know and love his extended family and his love of sailing. Priscilla lived life by her rules and charted her own beautiful and unique path. Her memory is a blessing.
