Michelle (Thomas) Stiles

Michelle Stiles, 61, of Bedford died on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on March 1, 1959, in Bedford, a daughter of the late C. Samuel Thomas and Barbara (Pellatiro) Thomas and companion Gene Koontz of Bedford. On May 14, 1977, in Bedford, she married Michael “Mike” Stiles who survives along with the following family: three sons, Michael “Mikey” Samuel Stiles and wife Julie of Schellsburg, Mark Alonzo Stiles and wife Janelle of Fishertown, and Miles David Stiles and wife Amanda of Fishertown; six grandchildren: Layne, Emmy, Grayson, Annastin, Alexandra and Samantha; one sister, LaDonna Hocker and husband Scott of Woodstock, GA; and one brother, Samuel Thomas and wife Angie of Bedford.

Michelle was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.  She volunteered with the Bedford County Children and Youth program. She enjoyed scrap booking, going camping, Thursday night card clubs, Friday poker with the girls, Disney, Trips to the beach, flip flops and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.  “We should not be saddened by your loss, we should remember how fortunate we have been for having her this long.  Twenty years ago she was told you will be transplanted or gone within three years. There are no other options.  We have been blessed with seventeen additional years.  Even with her suffering over those years she has given us so many great memories to cherish forever.  The sun will rise tomorrow but, it will not be the same as it has been in the past.”

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Merritt Pond, with Rev. Jack Miller and Thalia Fleetwood officiating. This will be an outdoor service that is open to friends and family and bringing your own chair is encouraged.  Friends will be received before the service from 1-3 p.m. and after the service from 5- 7 p.m. Those wishing may make contributions in Michelle’s name to Bedford County Children and Youth, 200 South Juliana Street, Bedford, PA 15522 or The Bedford Fire Department, P.O.
