Obituary

Mary Lou Shryock, 92, of Bedford, died on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on August 23, 1927, in Clearville, a daughter of the late Marshall and Bernice (Chamberlain) Morris. On March 27, 1948, in Cumberland, MD, she married Roy A. Shryock who preceded her in death on July 2, 2004. She is survived by two daughters: Carol Siegfried of Bedford, and Sharon Hine husband Rob also of Bedford, one son, Gary Shryock and wife Carla of Clearville; five grandchildren:  Jeremy Whisel and wife Angie of Clearville, Zane Whisel and wife Melody of Pittsburgh, Chad Shryock and husband Tony of Washington D.C., Heidi Race and husband Russ of Clearville, and Kyle Hine and wife Teena of Hedgesville, VA; 10 great-grandchildren; two cousins, Nancy Clark and husband Max of Bedford, Connie Anderson and husband Charlie of Bedford; and a special friend, Duane Pycher and wife B of Reading.  She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Andrew Kyle Hine, three cousins, Barbara Morral, Ethelyn Mills, and John Mills.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1944.  She attended Cathermans business school and worked as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture in Bedford and in Reading.  She was very active in all of the Lutheran churches that she attended and the granges. She and her husband would always spend time in Okeechobee, FL in the winters. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing board games and cards with her cousins, cooking fried fish and making gram cracker fluff. She was always an upbeat person that enjoyed spending time with her family.

Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Rock Hill Cemetery, in Clearville. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mary Lou’s name may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1590 North Center Ave. Suite 103, Somerset, PA 15501.
