Obituary

Mary C. Letrent, 51, of Bedford, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at her residence. She was born on July 1, 1969, in Everett, a daughter of Richard and Constance Marie (Dzmura) Letrent. Along with her parents she is survived by the following family: a brother Richard J. Letrent of Hamilton, NJ; a brother William M. Letrent and wife Tonia of Bedford, a sister Connie Lamb and husband Tom of Bedford; a brother Stephen P. Letrent and wife Kristen of Princeton, NJ; and six nieces and nephews.

Mary was a true Bedford County native. She attended St. Thomas School in her early years and graduated from Bedford High School, Class of 1987. Mary went on to study Education at Duquesne University earning her degree in 1991. She taught middle school science for a time. With an interest in the practice of pharmacy, Mary returned to Duquesne University and graduated from Pharmacy School, Class of 1998 and joined the family business. Mary has served as a pharmacist at Letrent’s Pharmacy since. She would often know you by name and assist in any way she could. Mary also established and managed the adjacent card shop where she enjoyed helping people find a card for special occasions and decorating for holidays.

Mary was highly involved in the care and education of many people in our community, and most of all her nieces and nephews, Stephen Letrent, Caroline Letrent, Michael Lamb, Elizabeth Letrent, Katherine Letrent, and Shannon Letrent. She was a loving and fun aunt, spending quality time with all of them over the years. She doted upon them often and through her example, taught them to be kind to others, to care about their community and to love and support family.

Mary was also devoted to Alli, her yellow Labrador and spoiled her often with much love, care, and walks through her neighborhood. She had a passion for animals, was an advocate, and actively supported the humane treatment of animals.

Mary was active in Church and her local community. She was always ready to lend a hand, help a friend, and share a smile. She enjoyed spending time down the Shore and at the Lake, loved all things Disney, the stories of Harry Potter, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and posting on Facebook.
