Mary E. (Schaeffer) Diehl Boore

Friends Cove

Mary Elizabeth (Schaeffer) Diehl Boore, 92, of Homewood at Martinsburg, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 8, 2022.  She was born on September 1, 1929, in Bedford, PA, to the late Howard and Margaret (Morgart) Schaeffer.  She graduated from Bedford High School in 1947 and married the late Bernard T Diehl on February 18, 1948.  Bernard died in 1975.  Later she married William C Boore on March 20, 1982 and he died in 1998. Mary was born, raised, and lived in the Friend’s Cove area her entire life.  Mary was a homemaker who was busy with raising children, and cooking, canning and freezing vegetables and fruit from her garden.  She loved baking bread and pies, and making ice cream. She was a long-time active member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Bedford.  She had a gift of hospitality and had many evangelists and missionaries stay in her home.  She often had friends at the Sunday dinner table or in the evening for dessert. She also hosted family gatherings for holidays and summer picnics.  She is survived by four children: Maron (Ginger) Diehl of Cheswick, N Larry (Karen) of Bedford, Sherrie (widow of Ed) White of Harrisburg, and Pamela (Gary) Miller of Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter-in-law, Joy (widow of Steven) Diehl, Bedford, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two special sisters-in-law; Charlotte Schaeffer and Mary “Billie” Ritchey.  In addition to her two husbands, Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Ann Diehl, son, Steven Howard Diehl, granddaughter, Hannah Joy Diehl, her four siblings, Gerald Schaeffer, M Rebecca Warfield, William Schaeffer, and Jane Fisher.  A private burial will be at the Friends Cove UCC Church, Bedford.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11:30 AM, at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 9391 Lincoln Highway, Bedford, PA with Adam Kravets, Pastor at the Bedford Calvary Baptist Church officiating.  In lieu of flowers, Mary's desire was to donate to the Great Commission Fund at cmalliance.org/give.
