Mary (Keel) Claar

Mary Claar, 86, of Bedford, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at her son’s residence. She was born on February 5, 1936, in Bedford, a daughter of the late William F. and Elsie (Hann) Keel. On July 5, 1950 in Ellerslie, MD, she married Jack E. Claar who preceded her in death on December 4, 2015. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Taylor and husband Lenny of Bedford; one son, Kenneth E. Claar and wife Diane of Bedford; five grandchildren:  Brandy Nave and fiancé Terry of Bedford; Deanna Park and husband Andy of Three Springs; Kenneth E. Claar Jr. fiancée Ambry of Somerset; Jack R. Claar of Altoona; Ryan Taylor of Bedford; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Etta Claar; five brothers: Norman, William, Donald, Orville, and Oliver; five sisters: Pauline Keel, Anabelle Berkebile, Rosie Reeb, Florine Keel, and Dorothy Kagarise.

Mary worked at various restaurants in the area which included Ed’s Steak House, Slick’s Ivy Stone, and the Bedford Springs Resort.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Brad Zembower officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
