Madaline H. Rose 89 of Bedford, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1934 in New Baltimore, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Laura (Frazier) O’Brien. On August 14, 1952 in Cumberland, MD she married Charles R. “Duck” Rose who preceded her in death on September 3, 2002. She is survived by four children: Richard Rose, of North Carolina, Joy Brown widow of Kenneth, of Dillsburg, Lori Greenawalt and husband Earl, of Clearville, Kena Rose, of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Kenneth Brown Jr., Charles Brown and wife Megan, Amy Lightner and husband Jay, Keith Brown and wife Becky, Alisha Hadix and husband Ray, Robert Palm Jr. and wife Amy, and Mark Palm and wife Angel; 21 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kate, Summer, Zowie, Jordan, Rebecca, David, Malissa, Alexcis, Skyler, Bryana, Charles Jr., Novah, Abigail, Elena, Emmett, Ily, Layla, Tinlee, Kinzlee, and Jax; a great-great-grandson, Zayne; and three siblings: Curtis O’Brien, Marian Miller widow of Donald, and Leila Trail and husband Roger.
Madaline was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440. Madaline enjoyed cooking, babysitting, and opened her home as the neighborhood hangout when her children were young. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews who considered her their mom.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky, Celebrant.
