Louann Elisabeth Koontz

Louann Elisabeth Koontz, 66, of Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1955 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Rosemary (Koozer) Koontz and H. Eugene Koontz and companion Barb both surviving of Bedford. She is also survived by a son Joel A. Koontz and wife Jacquelyn of Bedford; four grandchildren: Emilia, Grant, Oliver, and Audrey all at home; one brother G. Scott Koontz and wife Barbara of Bedford; one sister Susan Koontz Eberhart of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Stoeri.

Louann was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She worked for the family business, H. Eugene Koontz Trucking, Inc., as a secretary and treasurer for many years. Louann adored children, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spent time playing games and sharing her enjoyment of books. She passed along her love of fine arts to others through unique gifts, acquired at various arts festivals. Music and the performing arts were also some of her interests. She was previously an active member of the Bedford County Players and participated in children’s theater with the GFWC Bedford Women’s Club. 

A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.  Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
