Katharine Diann (James) Whetstone

Katharine Diann Whetstone 87, of Bedford, died Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard.  She was born on March 2, 1935 in Bedford a daughter of the late William and Maxine (Laufer) James.  On June 21, 1952 in Bedford she married Samuel Lee Whetstone Sr., who preceded her in death on January 30, 2016.  She is survived by four children: Samuel L. Whetstone Jr. and wife Cindy, of Mechanicsburg, Daniel R Whetstone and wife Giovina, of Lewisberry, Katharine Hindermyer and husband Charles, of Little River, SC, and Steven Whetstone and wife Maureen, of Hummelstown; eight grandchildren: Jason, Rose, Steven, Matthew, Anna Marie, Charles, Timothy and Andrea; nine great-grandchildren: Eliana, Calliegh, Kynliegh, Quinn, Charlee Belle, Chloe, Tessa, Cora, & Simon; a sister Elizabeth Wilson, of Florida; and a brother William James, of Selinsgrove.  She was preceded in death by a sister Donna Zembower.

Diann was a homemaker, and enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband in their RV. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. David Weinhold officiating.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
