Joseph G. Rose 69 of Collinsville, IL died Monday, August 9, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on December 29, 1951 in Bedford, a son of the late Glenn and Jeanne (Feathers) Rose. On September 2, 1973 in Las Vegas, NV he married Ruth A. (Wilson) Rose who survives along with two daughters: Laurie Byham and husband Mark, of Chesapeake, VA and Kelly Davis and husband John, of White Water, MO; three grandchildren: Haley, Alex, and Ben; two sisters: Karen Stiffler and husband Harry, and Shevawn Dumpert and husband Patrick, both of Bedford; and an aunt Joan Beegle, of Bedford.
Joe graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1969, and then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1970. He was deployed to Vietnam from 1971 to 1972, and spent his career as a Flight Line Mechanic until receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1992. Joe then owned and operated his own towing business for 17 years. He enjoyed traveling back to Bedford every year to visit with family and friends, mowing his lawn, and tending his pond. He was a life member of the National Nostalgic Nova Assoc., Vietnam Veterans of Cape Girardeau, local Locomotive Club, and enjoyed building model cars. Most of all Joe loved the time spent with his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Jim Miller officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at his home in Collinsville, IL.
