John "Terry" Bardell Obituary

John “Terry” Bardell, 76, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was born in Altoona, son of Darwin “Jr.” and Betty (McCoy) Bardell and married Jill (Krivoski) Bardell in Cumberland, MD, on October 14, 1978. He is survived by his wife, Jill; three children, Kristie Bardell Foor, Sean Bardell and wife Meghan, and Johnna Bardell Mayer and husband Michael; three grandchildren, Addison, Easton, and Athena; two grandcats, Alley and Riley; two siblings, Dianne (Bardell) Burtnett and husband Tom and Richard “Rick” Bardell and wife Vickie; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Darwin “Lee” Bardell.

Terry was a 1965 graduate of Bedford High School and drafted into the military in 1966, where he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Signal Corps and stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, during the Vietnam War. Terry was the owner of Bardell’s Foreign Car Service in the late 70s and early 80s before becoming the Service Manager at Thomas Automotive. He was a founding member and former President of the Bedford Outdoor Sports Society (“B.O.S.S.”), Bedford County Sportsman’s Club, Fort Bedford VFW Post 7527, Bedford American Legion Post 113, and the National Rifle Association. Terry enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, fishing, mowing the yard, buying lottery tickets at Kwik Fill, and socializing at ProCare three days a week.

He will be deeply missed by his family. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Altoona VA Homebased Primary Care, aid, Shirley Koontz, and neighbor, Ivan Smith.
