John A. Ray, 61, of Mitzler Road Alum Bank, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Altoona Hospital. He was born on August 26, 1943 in Washington, D.C. a son of the late William H. and Annie L. (Clark) Ray. On May 11, 1963 in Edmonston, Md, He married Gwendolyn Greer who survives along with a niece, Mary Laurie wife of Jesse Aplin of Beltsville, Md, two nephews, William Compton and wife Kim and James Compton and wife Diane both of Riva, Md. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Rhonda L. & Holly C. Ray and one sister: Williette Compton.
He was a self-employed contract deliverer of military records working out of Gaithersburg, Md
Funeral Services on Friday, April 15, 2005, at 2:00 PM from the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Inc. in Bedford, with the Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial in Woods Church Cemetery. Friends will be received on 1 hour prior to the service, on Friday, at the funeral home. .
