John C. Mickey Jr., 65, of Bedford, died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Bedford, a son of the late John C. Mickey Sr., and Lois (Shinholt) Mickey Rose surviving of Bedford. On April 16, 1977 in Bedford, he married Dorothy “Dottie” R. (Miller) Mickey, who survives along with the following family: a sister, Nancy J. Robison and husband Charles, of Altoona; three brothers: David H. Mickey and wife Marcia, of Alum Bank, Timothy A. Mickey and wife Nancy, of Bedford, and Thomas C. Mickey and companion Patti, of Frederick, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. McLaughlin, widower Charles, surviving of Bedford.
John retired after 32 years of service, with Bedford Borough Public Works Department. He was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and participated in the local bowling leagues. John enjoyed hunting, watching westerns, gardening, working in his yard, and his dog Abby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Joy Kauffman and Stan Howes officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery in Centerville. Friends will be received on Monday from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service on Tuesday.
