Jerry C. Rogish 74, of Bedford, died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Rebecca’s Personal Care Home. He was born on June 19, 1946 in Uniontown, a son of the late Charles S. “Charlie” and Marquerite (Andria) Rogish. On December 24, 1980 in Bedford he married Marlene C. (Imler) Rogish who preceded him in death on April 14, 1989. He is survived by the following family: a daughter Shawne Louise Vance and husband Jake, of Buchannon, WV, a daughter Sheala J. Murphy and husband Bryon, of French Creek, WV, a son Shannon C. Rogish, of Rural Retreat, VA, a daughter Michelle E. Rogish, of Bedford, and a daughter Jeri M. Rogish, of Reston, VA; three grandchildren: Ashley Unger, Katelyn Hooker, and Cole Murphy; three great-grandchildren: Jase, Hunter, and Alexia; a brother Thomas J. Rogish and wife Marcia, of Bedford; a sister Andrea R. “Angie” Ferguson, of Bedford; and a special friend Debrah Miller. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Brittany and Shane.
Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Bedford High School and a 1969 graduate of Glenville College. He was a teacher at St. Patrick’s High School in Weston, WV, and then Bedford School District, retiring after 33 years. After retirement he worked as a 911 dispatcher for Bedford County for 12 years, and also sold Fire Apparatus for over 40 years. Jerry was a Life Member of the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department, and previously held the positions of President and Assistant Chief. He was a member of the PA State Fireman’s Association, Central District Fireman’s Association, past President of the Bedford County Fireman’s Association, and was awarded Bedford County Fireman of the Year in 2006. Jerry coached Football and Basketball at Bedford for 33 years, and was a PIAA Referee in Football, Basketball, and Baseball starting in 1973. He was a life member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480, and the Bedford Elks Lodge #1707.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Jim Neatrour officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
