James “Jim” T. Hinson, 70, of New Paris passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at home.
He was born on April 26, 1950, in New Paris, a son to the late R. Dean and Patricia (Kinzey) Hinson. On December 20, 1974 in New Paris, he married Teresa “Terry” E. (Detweiler) Hinson and they shared 46 wonderful years together. Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Angie Thomas and husband Sam of Bedford: and Breanne Fetsko and husband Eric of New Paris; one son Tyrus J. Hinson married to the former Beth Igou of Curryville; seven grandchildren: Brady Thomas and girlfriend Marissa McCann of Harrisburg; Kailyn Thomas and fiancé of Joshua Sabo of Slippery Rock; Taryn Thomas of Bedford; Abbigail and Joe Fetsko of New Paris; and Harper and Hattie Hinson of Curryville; one brother Terry Hinson and wife Sandy of New Paris; two sisters Debbie Miller and husband Randy of New Paris; and Barb Williams and husband Mike of Schellsburg.
Jim’s career started at age 19 with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and he retired after 35 years of service, with most of those years being spent at Kegg Maintenance. After retirement Jim spent a few years driving tri-axle dump truck and that job turned into making more friends along the way. He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen’s Club, VFW Posts #4440 and 9219, and was a member and former President of the Chestnut Ridge Bow and Gun Club. Jim enjoyed playing softball for Kase Beverage and Kegg Maintenance. He shared his love of the sport through coaching his son and daughters’ baseball and softball teams for Hinson’s Auto Body and Wentz’s Greenhouse.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at New Paris Cemetery. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
