James F. “Jim” Harclerode, 83 of Bedford died on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on February 26, 1938, in Bedford, a son of the late John F. and Mary Janet (Morgaret) Harclerode. On February 23, 1962, in Winchester, VA, he married Bonnie (Foor) Harclerode who survives along with two sons: Timothy "Tim" Harclerode and companion Sharon of Bedford, and Robert "Rob" Harclerode also of Bedford; two special grandchildren: Rocky Jr. and Ashlee; two special great-grandchildren: Taylor and Adalee; and one sister Dorothy widow of Frederick Feather and Fred Egolf of Bedford. He was preceded in death by one brother Robert "Bob" Harclerode widow Connie who survives of Bedford, and one sister Janet Cessna widower Cecil who survives of Chambersburg.
Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church but attended the Messiah Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1956, and an Army Veteran. He worked for Bedford Valley Petroleum for over 38 years and in his spare time he worked with his dad at J. F. Harclerode Sales and Service and eventually took over the business and relocated it to his home. He was committed to his customers and made many friends over the years. In his younger days he enjoyed playing ISL Softball and hit the first home run at the Schellsburg ball fields under their new lights. He also enjoyed following his sons in the sports they played while growing up. After retirement he enjoyed his daily coffee time with his friends at the Landmark Restaurant.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Full military rites will be conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
