James Cornell Obituary

 

James "Jim" C. Cornell, 67, of Bedford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on February 26, 1953, in Topeka, KS a son of Frank Cornell and wife Joy of Cleburne, TX and the Late Betty (Fletcher) Cornell.  On October 18, 1986, in Ellerslie, MD, he married Bonnie (May) Cornell who survives along with a daughter, Katie Jo Cornell of Bedford; one sister Judy Alexander and husband Marcellus of Clearville; and one brother Joe Cornell of Murfreesboro, TN. He was preceded in death by one sister Janice Cornell of Everett and one brother John Cornell widow Carol who survives of Chambersburg.

Jim graduated in 1971 from Everett High School and graduated from Penn State’s farm machine mechanic course. He was a member of the Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church in Corriganville, MD. Jim worked for Houseworth Saw Mill, Sollenberger’s Farm Equipment, Bence’s Farm Equipment, Blackburn-Russell and retired from C.A. Curtze Co. in 2019 as a truck driver. Jim was a quiet person with the ability to repair almost anything and will be missed by many who depended on him for their repairs. His last words were “to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”. (II Cor. 5:8b)

Funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Cessna.  Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers and food, donations may be sent to Gary S. May, 30936 133rd St., Selby SD 57472-5812, who is a missionary to the Sioux Indians in SD.
