Iva Defibaugh Obituary

Iva Bell Grace Defibaugh, 93 of Silver Springs, MD entered heaven on Friday, May 10, 2019.   She was born in Rainsburg, PA on October 27, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Paul and Goldine (Mower) Logue of Bedford.  She married Fred M. Defibaugh in July 1946, who preceded her to heaven in August 1964.  She is survived by her three sons and one daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren:  son Bill Defibaugh and wife Shirley, of Derwood, MD, and their two children, David Defibaugh of Washington, DC, and Michael Defibaugh of Arlington, VA;  son Jerry Defibaugh (twin) and wife Linda Hollander, of Marco Island, Florida and his daughter Joslyn and husband Ed Lawson, of Harrisburg, PA, and their  two daughters Addison and Alexis Lawson and son Evan Lawson;  son Terry Defibaugh (twin) and wife Terry Kees, of Sarasota, FLA; and daughter Kay Ellen and husband Chris Clark, of Manassas, VA, and their son Joseph Clark of Arlington, VA. Iva is survived by her youngest brother Jim Logue of Spokane, Washington and her youngest sister Peggy Howsare of Everett, PA She was preceded in death by five brothers: infant Tommy, Bill, John, Junior (Paul) and Frank Logue; and four sisters: Geri Diehl, Mary Feight, Bert (Dot) Ickes, and Martha Dermer.

Iva was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1945.   She was a member of the Eastern Star and became Worthy Matron.  She was an active member of the local Bedford Village Players Theater, and provided numerous voices for the pantomiming cast for Bedford Bicentennial Play at the Fairgrounds.  She was also the President of the PTA for the Bedford Elementary School.   While living in Bedford, she attended the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bedford and worked as a dental assistant.  She moved and resided in the Rockville/Silver Springs, MD area for the past forty-five years.   There she provided child care for much of that time and was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Rockville, Md.   She had a passion for gardening and walking, was an avid Bridge player, and liked to travel.  Iva enjoyed cooking and would often provide many friends and neighbors with welcome meals.  She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Viewing and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, with Pastor Raymond E. Short officiating.  The viewing will be held downstairs form 9:45 a.m. until the hour of the service that will be held upstairs in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Bedford Cemetery.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
