Helen Sellers Obituary

Helen Knisely Sellers, 92, of Bedford, passed away on November 9 202 at her residence.  She was born on July 3, 1928 in Reynoldsdale, the daughter of the late Edward and Virgie Strayer.  On June 20, 1946 she married her first husband Dean Knisely in Winchester VA, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2001. On February 19, 2003 she married Bernard Sellers in Ruskin, FL,  and he survives along with her daughter Nancy Smith and husband Ron of Bedford; a step-son Jim Sellers and wife Beth of Bedford; a grandson Jeffrey Smith and wife Tammie of East Freedom; a step-grandson Jeremy Sellers of Bedford; three step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Harold Knisely and wife Wilda of Bedford; a special niece Sharon Kauffman Miller and husband Dale of Schellsburg; special friends Clair and Phyllis Corle of Bedford and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers: Wilson, Blair, Clyde, and Orville Strayer; one sister Grace Kauffman;  one stepson Joe Sellers widow Vicky who survives of Bedford; and one step-granddaughter Jessica Sellers.  Helen and her first husband Dean owned and operated Knisely’s Garage near Cessna for many years. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and later attended the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.  She loved spending time in the winters in Ruskin, FL, playing cards, selling jewelry, traveling, having yard sales, bowling, camping, baking, and cooking.

Due to the COVID 19 precautions all visitations and services will be private.  Burial will be held at Alto Reste Park in Altoona.  If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 15, Fishertown, PA 15539. Special thanks to the Bedford UPMC Hospice nurses and aides, Jada, Krista, Lori, and Jamie. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
