Gary T. "Chico" Ake Obituary

Gary T. "Chico" Ake, 79, of New Paris died on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Hillview Nursing Home. He was born on February 14, 1941 in Cessna, a son of the late Tolbert L. and Thelma J. (Bloom) Ake. On May 2, 1969 in Bedford he married Dixie (Whisner) Ake who survives along with a son, Justin Ake and wife Kimberly of Altoona; three grandchildren:  Tyson, Jocelyn, and Alaina; one brother Galen E. Ake of Everett; two sisters Linda J. Koontz and husband Mike of New Enterprise; and Vicki L. Imler and husband Steve of Everett; one nephew Earl John Davis of New Paris and 13 other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard and Clark Ake, and one sister, Hannah Mae Harbour.

Chico served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Everett Church of God. He worked as a Truck Driver for McQuaide out of Johnstown. Chico enjoyed horses and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillview Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided to Chico and the family.
