Floyd F. Engle

Floyd F. Engle, 90 of Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born on May 12, 1933 in Centerville, a son of the late Harry F. and Clara R. (Miller) Engle. On July 17, 1959 in Centerville he married Colleen (Evans) Engle and she survives along with four children:  Evelena Fike of Oakland, MD; Ramona Harvey of West Palm Beach, FL; Keith Engle and wife Christina of Kansas City, MO; Curt Engle and wife Nicole of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight grandchildren Bryson Paugh and wife Breanna, Seth Fike, Corinne Parsons and husband Nathan,  Lauren and Nick Harvey, and Adara, Mireya, and Aliza Engle; two great grandchildren: Harland and Vincent Parsons; two brothers James Engle and wife Sharon of Centerville; Ken Engle and wife Willa Mae of Cumberland, MD; and one sister Marcia Restly and husband Robert of Bedford.  Floyd was preceded in death by one sister Lois Cover.

Floyd was a former member of the Bedford Valley Assembly of God Church in Centerville but recently had been attending Mt. Pisgah AME Zion Church in Bedford.   Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951-1971 and reached the rank of Chief along with many other commendations. After his career with the Navy, he worked for 23 years and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Floyd played a mean guitar and played for many years in the area with friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion Post #113, and the Fleet Reserve Association. He brought joy to many with his love of picking and grinning. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, attending Navy ship’s reunions and visiting friends and family. Floyd loved his family dearly and he will be greatly missed by them.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October, 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Shannon Rust officiating burial at Fellowship Cemetery in Centerville with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Those wishing can make memorial contributions to Mt.
