Evelyn M. Elliott, 95, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on July 19, 1925, in Powhatan, OH, a daughter of the late Walter and Bessie Mae (Greenhorn) Law. On September 23, 1949, in Winchester, VA, she married John E. Elliott and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2011.  She is survived by two daughters: Diana Superack and husband George of Columbia, TN; and Joanne M. Weigel widow of Ronald  of Armagh; one son, John R. Elliott and wife Lynn of Bedford; four granddaughters: Chali  Roberts of Clarksville, TN;  Melanie Superack of Spring Hill, TN;  Megan Cornell and husband Robert of Bedford; and  Jordan Elliott of Hollidaysburg; five great-grandchildren:  Gabriella, Cullin, Brailey, Ryan, and Chase; one great-great-grandson, Ness;  one sister Shirley Cross widow of Gerald of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by infant siblings; Charles and Dolores, two sisters:  Geraldine and husband George Carpenter and Madeline and Paul Fisher, one brother James Law widower Helen who survives of Richland.

Evelyn was small but mighty throughout her life and was a progressive woman of her time. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1943. And went on to Cumberland Memorial Hospital where she graduated from their program as a Registered Nurse. She received training with the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII.  She worked as a nurse at Timmens Hospital, and provided private nursing care for patients within the Bedford community. She also worked for many years at Donahue Manor. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was kind, caring and simply a beautiful woman inside and out. Her lessons to all were to be humble and to live God’s plan. She was life-long member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. Evelyn loved to sing, tend to her flowers, bird-watch, and was the most amazing cook. She loved to bowl and especially loved spending many hours with her dear friend Betty Vent.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Colonial Courtyard for the care they provided Evelyn during her residency.
