Ella H. (Holland) Bingham

Ella H. Bingham, 93, of Bedford died on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. She was born on July 20, 1926, in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late George F. and Mary (DeWalt) Holland. On October 12, 1950 in Huntingdon, she married H. Cyril Bingham and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1973. She is survived by a son, H. Cyril Bingham Jr. and wife Susan, of Bedford, five grandchildren, Tiffany Bingham of Ft. Collins, CO; SSG Trevor Schetrompf and wife Bobbi of Clarksville, TN, Travis Schetrompf and fiancée Ashleigh of Somerset, Tabitha Strait and husband Craig of Harrisonville; and K.C. Bingham of FL; five great-grandchildren: Jack, Raegan, Abel, Hunter, and Brianna;  six nieces and nephews:  Marilyn, Barbara, Clara, Rebecca, Carole, and Daniel; and a good friend Judy Keeler of Everett.  She was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth C. Bingham, a grandson, Brian Bingham, four brothers Charles, Phillip, Edward, and Harry Holland, and one sister Mary Van Ormer.

Ella graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1945.  She then went to Huntingdon Business School.  She worked as a secretary and retired from Hedstrom and Dick Hess’s office. She was a member and very active at the Bedford United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed participating and helping out at the senior center and the young heart games.  She was the last president of the Republican Women and was also past clerk of Bedford County East Ward of Elections. Ella was last original tenant at the Fort Bedford Inn. She enjoyed cooking and was well known in town. She loved everybody and everybody loved her.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Robert Marsh officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.  Those wishing can make memorial contributions in Ella’s name to the Bedford United Methodist Church, 125 West John Street, Bedford, PA 15522 or Bedford Senior Center, 203 South Richard Street, Bedford, PA 15522.
