Edward “June” Wolfhope, 80, of Schellsburg died Monday October 9, 2023 in his home after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s. He was born February 3, 1943 in Lutzville to the late Demetrius W. and Eleanor L. Ford Wolfhope. Ed was a farmer most of his life. He was once a self-employed carpenter and was a Juniata Township Supervisor for 18 years. He retired from the PA Turnpike after 19 years of service. A member of St. Johns the Baptist Church in New Baltimore, he served on the church council and hall committee, and helped with the pancake breakfasts. Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Hereford Association. He raised and showed registered Polled Herefords on State and National levels. He clipped and fitted many steers and heifers for local kids for the fair. Ed was an avid hunter and carpenter.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years Peggy J. (Shippey) Wolfhope, his daughter Tawnya (Troy) Wigfield of Schellsburg and his two grandsons Wyatt K. and Landon A. (Doze) Wigfield of Schellsburg, who were his pride and joy. Three brothers William Gary (Dorothy) Wolfhope of Schellsburg, Paul J. (Toni) Wolfhope of Lower Burrell, and Franklin Steve (Annette) Wolfhope of Alum Bank. His adopted grandchildren Kayla (Kevin) Forsythe of Sugar Land Texas, Risa (Steve) Aaronson and family of Bedford and Kyle Miller of Bedford. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Keith Edward Wolfhope. We would like to thank Dr. David Baer, UPMC Hospice, especially Jada, Brenda, Krista and others as well as Pastor John Bennett and Cheryl Wolfhope for their caregiving skills, love, and support and Father Mark for his visits. He also has numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who have helped with various tasks during his illness. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Family and Friends will be received Thursday, October 12, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home Inc. 214 S. Juliana Street Bedford. PA 15522. A Christian Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 am Friday October 13, 2023. Burial will follow in St. Johns Church Cemetery, New Baltimore.
