Dr. J. Albert Eyler, 100, of Everett, died on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1920, in Bedford, a son of the late Rev. J. Albert and Elizabeth (Wohlsen) Eyler. On July 7, 2001, in Bedford, he married Doris (Smith) Weyant Eyler who survives along with the following family: two daughters, Lynne E. Martin and husband Bob of Sandy Lake, and Jan Snyder-Hess and husband Jerry Hess of Lancaster; two step-sons: Lynn Weyant and wife Lisa of Schellsburg, and Brian Weyant and wife Angie of Everett; five grandchildren: Todd Powers and wife Kirstan of Erie, Jennifer Hoffman and husband Chris of Indiana, Jeff Snyder and wife Melanie of Lancaster, Ben Snyder and wife Fabienne Jach of Oakland, CA, and Kate Snyder and husband Jannes Hendriks of Johannesburg, South Africa; two step-grandchildren: Brett Weyant and spouse Colten of Carlisle, and Ashley Eidem and husband Nick of Hollidaysburg; six great-grandchildren: Brady, Brooke, William, Ethan, Ivy, and River; and one step-great-grandson: Nash. He was preceded in death by one brother Paul W. Eyler, MD, and one sister Anna Mary Deemer.
Dr. Eyler graduated from Bedford High School in 1937, Franklin and Marshall College in 1941 and Temple University Medical School in 1944. He was a Captain in the Army Medical Corps during WWII. Dr. Eyler had a private medical practice in Bedford from 1950 - 1990. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, traveling, watching sports on TV and was a member of St. John’s UCC in Bedford, Bedford Rotary Club, and the Bedford County Medical Society.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
