Douglas K. Reed 72, of Everett, died Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Victoria House at Spring House Estates. He was born on April 30, 1949 in Johnstown, a son of the late Emmett Darlington and Golde (McGeary) Reed. On August 8, 2003, in Johnstown, he married Vivian (Plows) Reed who survives along with a son Kristopher Reed, and a daughter Jennifer Reed, both of Sarasota, FL; a step son Christopher Byroade and wife Bobbi, of New Cumberland, a step-daughter Laura Lynn Kopinski and husband Tom, of State College, and a step-son Daniel Byroade and fiancée Laken Kuntz, of Irwin; and four grandchildren: Madeline, Emily and Benjamin Kopinski, and Beckham Byroade.
Doug was a General Foreman of Gautier Steel at Bethlehem Steel and then a Business Management Professor for the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. He was well loved by his students, and changed many lives throughout his tenure. He enjoyed traveling in his motor coach, listening to Bob Dylan, and going to Pirates games with his son Kris.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at Homewood at Springhouse Estates, 150 Victoria Avenue, Everett, with light refreshments to follow.
