Dorothy "Dot" J. (Hagenbuch) Weyant

Dorothy J. “Dot” Weyant 86, of Bedford, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Pennknoll Village.  She was born on July 19, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Robert D. and Mildred A. (Tepe) Hagenbuch Jr.  On July 30, 1983 she married Edward F. Weyant who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter Linda L. Steele and companion Timothy Easter, of Bedford, a grandson Adam J. Steele and wife Jennifer (Ritchey), of Everett, and two grandchildren: Layla and Luke.  She was preceded in death by her former husband James F. Hillegass, four brothers: Robert E. Hagenbuch III, John T. Hagenbuch, Frederick E. Hagenbuch, and Donald L. Hagenbuch; and two sisters: Lois A. Bennett, and Kathryn C. Hagenbuch. 

Dot graduated from Bedford High School in 1954 and attended Penn State University.  She was employed by many companies over the years including Bedford Farm Bureau, D.E. Williams and Company, and the Bedford Holiday Inn.  Dot also was the legal secretary for Attorney J. William McIntyre for 28 years and R. Martin Reiley, Esq for 11 years.  She was the organist for St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for over 45 years.  Dot was the CCD Teacher and D.R.E. at St. Thomas and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, as well as Cantor, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas.  She was a former board chairman of the Bedford County American Red Cross, board chairman of the Bedford County Abuse Center, and a member of the Bedford Area Republican Woman.  She enjoyed drawing, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, making rosaries, and family gatherings at the cottages. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Church.  Friends will be received on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Timothy A.  Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
