Diane L. (Romanow) Riegel

Diane L. Riegel, 74 of New Paris, died on Friday, January 19, 2024 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1949 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Leroy and Phyllis (Loder) Romanow. On August 29, 1975 in Johnstown, she married William J. (Chick) Riegel Jr. who preceded her in death on July 8, 2018. She is survived by the following family: three daughters, Roni Japonis and husband Dave of Wolcott, CT; Robbie Barnes and husband Larry of Osterburg;  Tina Riegel of New Paris;  four sons: Bobby Woods of Schellsburg;  Jerry Woods and wife Mary of Fishertown; Chris Riegel and wife Amanda of Johnstown, and Scott Riegel and wife Beth of Hollidaysburg; 18 grandchildren:  Kamden, Khalen, Alyssa, Carrie, Rylee, Martin, Devin, Mike, Tori, Hunter, David, Carlee, Dalton, Madison, Jacob, Jacob, Ethan, and Kinley; 11 great-grandchildren:  Christopher, Landon, Carter, Gracyn, Ace, Tegan, Clint, Kace, Theo, Easton, and Alayna; one sister Sharon Valenti of Tampa, FL; two brothers: Johnny Romanow and wife Elvia of Destin, TX, and Phil Romanow and wife Leslie of Lehigh Acres, FL.  She was preceded in death by one sister Fran Romanow.

Diane worked for Ed’s Steakhouse for over 35 years and was known as “Dee” “Deedle” “Deedlebug” “Mum Mum”.  She was involved in the Boys Scouts program for over 20 years and that included being a den leader, cub master, and she assisted with the pinewood derbies.  She always had a book in her hand was the center of her families universe. She kept everyone grounded and loved everyone without hesitation. She was always there to support unconditionally and was the Queen of inappropriate comments.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev.
