Charles S. Pensyl Sr.

Charles S. Pensyl Sr., 71, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on April 5, 1949, in Bedford, a son of the late Milton L. and Geraldine (Benna) Pensyl. On April 3, 1976, in Bedford, he married Jackie (Carson) Pensyl who preceded him in death on May 27, 2013. He is survived by a son Charles S. Pensyl Jr. and wife Amy of Bedford; two daughters Robin M. Hogenmiller and husband John; and Vicki L. Clapper and husband Mike all of Bedford; two grandchildren:  Isaiah and Lance; two sisters Nancy J. Wright widow of Melvin, of Bedford, and JoAn Sleaster also of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Tew widower Francis who survives of Bedford.

Charles was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.  He worked at Standard Register for 23 years and after it closed he worked at Kennametal for the next 20 years and retired in 2013.  He was a member of the Bedford County Sportsman’s Club, Bedford American Legion Post# 113, and the BCVVA. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering around the house, attended tractor pulls at Southern Cove Power Reunion and car shows.  During his time while living at  Homewood he played pool and water volleyball. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. David Weinhold officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
