Carol L. Stump 79, of Bedford, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. She was born on November 6, 1939 in Roaring Spring, a daughter of the late R. Ned and Minerva “Peany” (Shore) Hoover. On December 26, 1964 in Johnstown she married Roy J. Stump, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2011. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Walsh and husband Ray, of Horsham; a grandson, Ryan Walsh; a granddaughter, Dylan Walsh; and a brother Gary “Butch” Hoover and wife Jayne, of New Port Ritchey, FL.
Carol was a 1957 graduate of Everett Area High School, and attended Catherman’s Business School. She worked at several companies throughout the years including: JLG, Standard Register, NES&L, and retired as the Executive Director of the United Way of Bedford County after 10 years. Carol also served on many boards including: Bedford County Technical Center Advisory Board, CO-OP Advisor, Food Pantry Board, Bedford County Elections Board, several Bedford County Chamber of Commerce Boards, Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Board, and many others. She was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, Bedford Professional Women, and Bedford American Legion Post #113 Auxiliary. Carol enjoyed gardening, volunteering in the community, helping others, and spending time with her grandchildren who were the love of her life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Brady Plummer officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Friday from 9:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
