Bonnie J. (May) Cornell

Bonnie J. Cornell 69, of Bedford, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home.  She was born on December 14, 1953 in Bedford a daughter of the late Charles W. and Arville R. (Shaffer) May.  On October 18, 1986 in Ellerslie, MD she married James “Jim” Cornell who preceded her in death on February 16, 2021.  She is survived by a daughter Katie Jo Cornell, of Bedford; three siblings: Carl H. May widower of Linda, of Lancaster, Gary S. May and wife Donna, of Selby, SD, and Barry L. May and wife Sheila, of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was a 1971 graduate of Bedford High School and worked as a production manager for the Bedford Gazette for over 17 years.  She was a member of the Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church in Corriganville, MD.  She enjoyed playing the organ and teaching at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Steve Corbett officiating.  Burial at St. Paul’s Reformed Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to her daughter to assist with medical expenses.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
