Barry L. Hillegass

Barry L. Hillegass 64, of Manns Choice, died on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.  He was born on March 22, 1957 in Everett, a son of Evan R. Hillegass of Bedford and the late Helen M. (Kerr) Hillegass.  On October 24, 1998 in Fishertown, he married Kimberly (Werner) Hillegass who survives along with the following family: a daughter Amber L. Brumbaugh and husband Mathew, of New Enterprise; two step-sons: Devin R. Sciranko and wife Rana of Manns Choice, and Kale R. Sciranko and wife Jill, both of Manns Choice; a step-daughter Melynne A. Sciranko and fiancé Devin Livingston, of Miami, FL; three grandchildren: Melea E. Brumbaugh, Mason L. Brumbaugh, and Kole D. Sciranko; two sisters Shirley Bakken and husband Verne of Manns Choice; and Yvonne Toth and husband Bob of Windber and two brothers: David L. Hillegass and wife Sharon of Harrisburg; and Terry W. Hillegass and wife Sherry of Bedford; father and mother-in-law  Robert and Mereada Werner of New Baltimore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two step-mothers: Mae L. (Burkett) Hillegass, and Gale (Calhoun) Hillegass; an infant brother Todd, and one brother Galen Hillegass and one sister Paula Hillegass

Barry was a certified electrician, and worked for Standard Acoustical in Hagerstown, MD for 25 years.  He also worked the concession stand business with his family. He enjoyed going to the Bedford County Dirt Drag Races, hunting, wood working, and spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren.  He attended St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, and was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480 since 1982.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Father Mark Pattock officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
