Audrey N. Young 80, of Schellsburg, died on Monday, August 31, 2020 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1940 in Schellsburg, a daughter of the late Emory S. and Carrie A. (Fink) Croyle. On December 20, 1981 in Fishertown, she married James R. Young, who survives along with the following family: a son Kim A. Morris and wife Brenda of Lewisberry, a son Donald E. Morris and wife Christine of Schellsburg, a daughter Karen S. Forsha of Leola, a daughter Wendy Young of Farmers Branch, TX, and a daughter Sheri Celtruda of Etters; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Alex, two brothers: Donald Croyle and Emory S. Croyle Jr.; and two sisters: Alice McVicker and Eva Turner.
Audrey worked as a waitress at Howard Johnson’s on the turnpike, a respiratory therapist at Bedford County Memorial Hospital, and a secretary at Lane Metal, before retiring as a secretary for PennDot in Ebensburg. She was a member and taught Sunday School at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. Audrey was very active with her children’s activities while they were growing up, including coaching softball, the Ridgettes, and Bedford County Highsteppers. She also participated in the re-enactment with the Bedford County’s Bi-Centennial. Audrey was very proud that Kim, Donnie, Karen, and her grandson Mark, served in the military.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating. Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday. Those in attendance are asked to observe the recommendations pertaining to wearing masks and social distancing as much as possible.
