Annabelle (James) Crist

Annabelle Crist 96, of Bedford, died Wednesday, August 11, 2020 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on July 17, 1924 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Glenn and Iva James.  On April 28 1945, in Cumberland, MD she married Leon Crist, who survives along with two sons: Gary Crist and wife Brenda, of Waterloo, IN, and Greg Crist and wife Susan, of Bedford; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister Margaret Verbeck, of Willoughby, OH.  She was preceded in death by a son Mike Crist, widow Judy of Osterburg, a daughter Gaye Anne Lingenfelter, widower Ronald of King, two grandchildren: Justin Farkas and Lori Halwany, a brother John James, and two sisters: Mary Hadley and Janet Smith.

Annabelle was a 1942 graduate of Bedford High School.  She was a teacher’s assistant at Bedford Elementary School and owned a beauty shop with her sisters. She also did babysitting for a lot of children.  She was a member of the Real Life Church, formerly the Village Church, and taught Sunday School and was in the church choir.
