Alonda N. “Loni” Braman 83, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2021, with her children by her side, after complications from a stroke. She was born on August 9, 1938 in Manns Choice a daughter of the late Clarence Andrew and Margaret Priscilla (Bagley) Scritchfield. On July 30, 1955 in Bedford, she married Benedict J. “Ben” Braman, who preceded her in death on September 17, 2008. She is survived by the following family: a son Daniel Braman and wife Patricia, of Manns Choice, a son Andrew Braman and wife Gladys of Manns Choice, a daughter Lois Lodge of Indiana, a daughter Margaret Clapper and husband Eric, of Hopewell, a daughter Amy Clark and husband David, of Bedford, and a son Dennis Braman, of Bedford; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one on the way; a sister Margaret “Peggie” Scritchfield, of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Charlotte Wertz, and Shirley Grasser; four brothers: Joel, Ricky, and David Scritchfield; and an infant brother, Samuel.
Alonda retired as a cook from Bedford School District. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and the St. Thomas Ladies Guild, and volunteered as long as she was able at the church. Alonda proudly supported several organizations including the Bedford Food Outreach, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and numerous others. She was a very caring and prayerful person, who was adored by all she met.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Derek Fairman Celebrant. Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. The family requests those in attendance to wear a face mask during the funeral mass. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
