William A. Shoemaker

William A. “Bill” Shoemaker, 89, of Milligan’s Cove Road, Buffalo Mills, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at his residence.  He was born in the same home, he lived in throughout his lifetime on November 15, 1924, in Buffalo Mills, a son of the late Fred and Anna (Hillegass) Shoemaker.  On December 1, 1945, in Cumberland, MD, he married Pearl (Holler) Shoemaker, of Bard Hollow, and she survives along with two sons, William E. “Bill” Shoemaker, of Manns Choice, and Dale E. Shoemaker, wife NaDa, of Buffalo Mills, a daughter, Gale Lindahl, and husband Rick, of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren: Rob Shoemaker, and wife Karen of Asheville, NC, Angela Shoemaker, and fiancé Tanner of Bedford, and Cary Shoemaker, of Buffalo Mills, one great-grandson, Tommy Shoemaker, of Asheville, NC; one brother, Paul Shoemaker, and wife Nora of Bedford, and one sister, Dorothy Fisher and husband George of Maryland.  He was preceded in death by one son, Edward, one half brother, Robert McVicker, and one sister, Martha Biggins.

As an owner of Maple Cove Farms, Bill was a lifelong dairy farmer, and maple syrup producer.  He was very proud of being a third generation Bedford County maple syrup producer and continuing this family tradition to the fourth generation.  He was a lifelong member of the Milligan’s Cove Christian Church, and served on the Church’s Cemetery Association for many years.  He served 40 years as a board director with Bedford County Farm Bureau and was a long standing member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Association.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., at the Milligan’s Cove Christian Church, with Pastor John Miller officiating.  Burial at Milligan’s Cove Christian Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Timothy A.
