William H. Masterson 92 of E. John St., Bedford, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at his home. He was born November 25, 1914 in New York City, son of the late William and Ethel (Gahagan) Masterson .but was raised by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gahagan of Lock Haven. On August 27, 1940 in Hagerstown, MD he married Ann Quigley who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Masterson and an infant sister Virginia Rifflard.
Mr. Masterson was a member of Bedford Trinity Lutheran Church, the Bedford Lions Club, the Retired Teachers Association of Bedford County. He was a member and Board Member for the PIAA and officiated basketball and football for 25 years. He was active in the Alumni Association at Lock Haven University, was a board member for the Bedford County Housing Authority. He was a member of Bedford Elks Lodge #1707. He was the Recreation Director for Bedford School district and was active with the youth of Bedford in various activities for many years. He also coached with Bruce Fisher at Bedford High School early in his career. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and Lock Haven University and retired in 1976 after six years teaching grade school at Howard, PA and 29 years at Bedford.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Tome Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 W.
