William E. Jones

William E. Jones 77, of Bedford, died Friday, May 6, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on February 1, 1945 in McKeesport, a son of the late Eugene D. and Edith (Hansen) Jones.  On September 3, 1966 at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in White Oak, he married Anne (Cullen) Jones who survives along with the following children: Wendy Storey and husband Joseph Jr., of Monroeville, Brian Jones, of Dunedin, FL; and Amy Beninati and husband James, of Plum; four grandchildren: Joseph Storey III, Lindsey Storey, Carly Beninati, and Nathaniel Beninati; a sister: Betsy Jarrett and husband Joseph, of Atlanta, GA; and his dog Bella.  As an animal lover, he has had many cherished pets over the years.  He was preceded in death by two siblings: Walter Jones, and Carol James.

William served in the US Navy on the CVA 62 Independence during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a communications engineer.  William enjoyed fishing and camping at Shawnee State Park, which led him to follow his lifelong dream of retiring to Bedford.  He was an easy-going family man, with a great personality, who gave his all to his family.  William was an extremely proud grandpa, who looked forward to supporting and celebrating his grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Father Derek Fairman officiating.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in William’s name to: Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford, PA 15522.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
